Make-Up by the Expert

Sam Morgan - Vie at Home Consultant

We seem to get to that certain age where we become uncertain about what clothes, styles and make-up suit us best!  We’ve already had tips from our member Allyson McCourt about image and style so we thought we’d bring along a guest to talk about the make-up side of things too

Sam Morgan of Vie at Home is coming along as a guest speak to FIND to give us some hints and tips on the application of make-up, how to help keep it in place longer and how to choose our colours correctly.  She will also be doing a demonstration on the night.

Sam has been working for Vie at Home formally known as Virgin Vie Cosmetics for over 5 years now, where she first learned the art of doing make over’s and facials.   After being made redundant from her day job as a production planner at the end of 2008, she decided to use part of her redundancy to start a mobile beauty business and attended a private college and did a number of intense courses to increase her skills.  Sam says “If it had not been for Vie at home I would never have considered doing this sort of thing but now realise I should have done it years ago.”

So why not come and join us on the 22nd, get some makeup tips from Sam and enjoy our lovely healthy buffet and networking.

Social Media for Business
What’s all the Buzz about?

Presentation by the FIND Planning Team
Maureen Storey (Virtuoso -  Digital Marketing Services )
Ann Williams-Maughan (Education Takeaway)
Ann Clement (Bush Essentials)

There has been so much hype lately about Social Media it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start – and to really understand how it can help you and your business.

So, we thought we’d pull together an exclusive event for FIND members that will:

  • Look at the most popular Social Media tools and how they can help you grow your network and your business (we’ll take a peek at Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the WordPress blogging tool)
  • Help you to identify how you might start using these tools to successfully develop your business and network
  • Take a real-world look at how some of our members are actually using and benefitting from social media networking
  • Enable us to share our experiences as a group – so if you’ve had good or bad experiences, come along – share and be sociable!

Only a couple of places left for this event, please email maureen@findnetworkingdurham.co.uk if you would like to attend.

‘Do you feel that you aren’t getting exactly what you want out of life? That things are not quite in harmony? That you have difficulty in setting and achieving goals? If so, the Rainbows End Life Coaching workshop is the perfect place for you to start to make major improvements your life. The workshop, led by coaches Jenny Evans and Elizabeth Scott provides a taste of life coaching and will enable you to think about how your life is going, what it is that you really want and to give yourself a pat on the back for achieving what you have so far.  You will use some tools and try out some exercises that you can take away with you and use in your everyday life.

It won’t be like an individual coaching session, so if you are comfortable to express how you truly feel about things, please feel free to, however if you would prefer to do the exercises using examples and not your own experiences then that is fine.

So come and join us on the 24th, learn a little about life coaching and a lot about yourself.’

HOW TO CREATIVELY EMPLOY PEOPLE

Christine Mordue, Durham University (Student Employment Service)
www.dur.ac.uk/ses

There are not enough hours in the day. It’s difficult to cope with the routine stuff let alone all those bright ideas you have for developing the business.

There are days when you wonder how or where you can find somebody who is willing to work enthusiastically as and when you want them. You can not be in three places at once - some days are just manic. Well help is at hand, there’s a local service which can help you to find the help you require for a few hours, a few days, regularly or periodically.

During the presentation Christine will explain about a useful resource through which other local employers have found talented employees to work with minimal supervision for limited hours giving them more time to take their business forward. What’s more it’s a service which costs nothing other than the wages for the person you employ.
